Grand slam: all major indices make record highs

Investors looked past the latest weak U.S. jobs numbers and nudged markets on Wall and Bay street to record closes. The S&P added 0.27%, the Nasdaq 0.37%, the Dow 0.43% and the TSX by 32 points to 29,059. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.084%. Key names included UNH jumping 8.64%, Centene 7.7%, Super Micro Computer 7.19%, Albemarle -11.49% and Humana -12.04%.
In Toronto, only three sectors rose, but energy made outsized gained while healthcare and industrials lagged the most. Major movers: Teck Resources surged 11.53% after announcing it will marge with Anglo-American, CNQ climbed 2.29%, Suncor 2.1%, Orla Mining -4.69% and North West Co. -4.65%. Gold slipped US$4 to US$3,631 but remained at record levels, but WTI climbed 0.66% to US$62.65.
